Stuck in the office....

Much rather be in the vineyards right now. That's where all the "action" is at the moment. Thierry is already overwhelmed with so much to do all at once (trellising, plowing, shearing and spraying...) and juggling with the weather conditions.
But obviously someone has to hold down the fortress, so to speak, and that someone is me! With the warm weather comes a few passers-by. It's a pity we don't get more tourists, as our little corner of France is rather devoid of chateaux, monuments, museums, beaches, mountains, and other attractions - not to mention that we also do not benefit from having any of the "big name" Champagne Houses.... However, those who do venture "down South" in Champagne and discover the Aube do not regret the time spent discovering this beautiful region.
Coming from a big city (Chicago), one of the most frequent questions people ask me is whether I like living here. My answer is always the same: when the weather's good, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. But don't ask me the same question during our long, cold, rainy, gray, winters, where the nearest movie theater is 30 miles away!
Je préfèrerai être dans les vignes en ce moment. C'est là où tout se passe actuellement! C'est la période où il faut tout faire en même temps, en jonglant avec le temps. Thierry est déjà débordé avec le palissage, le  rognage, les traitements, le labourage.
Evidemment, quelqu'un doit rester au bureau pour accueiller les clients, et cette personne c'est moi! Avec le beau temps, on a un peu de passage, mais notre région souffre un peu d'un manque de connaissance. Point de châteaux, musée, monument, plage, montagne ni de Grandes Maisons de Champagne pour attirer le touriste dans l'Aube, et c'est bien dommage, car c'est une belle région, et les gens qui y font le détour ne le regrettent pas.
On me pose souvent la question,  venant d'une grande ville comme Chicago, si je préfère la vie ici ou là bas. Je réponds toujours que quand il fait beau, c'est ici, mais il vaut mieux éviter de me poser la même question pendant nos hivers longs, froids, pluvieux, et gris, où il faut faire 45 km pour sortir au cinéma...!
