la fin...et la suite - the end of the beginning

Ca y est, les vendanges sont terminées. Hier nous avons pressé le dernier marc pour 2011.  Bien sûr, ce n'est pas vraiment la fin - Pour la vinification, ce n'est qu'un début - il reste encore à faire pour transformer ces beaux raisins en vin et ensuite en champagne ! De quoi s'occuper encore quelque mois...

Au programme pour aujourd'hui : le grand nettoyage du pressoir. Pas le boulot le plus sympa - heureusement que nous avons Clovis, notre responsable pressoir pour s'en occuper!

We finished harvesting yesterday, and the last grapes have been crushed. Of course it's not really the end - it's just the beginning - we still have a lot of work to do before the grapes are transformed into wine and then into champagne ! That should keep us busy for the next few months !

Today we started all the clean up work. It takes a whole day to wash the press and have it ready for the next harvest. Admittedly, it's not a lot of fun, but luckily we have Clovis, who is with us during the harvest and stays on to do the job !
